Product Design
Product Design is often used to describe activities associated to Product Development. Although they may be performed by the same people in a company, their goals are very different. Product design transforms customer’s ideas and concepts into sketches, models, or CAD visuals while Product Development uses these concepts to create a finished product.
The Product Design process will include the following:
- Gathering information about product value proposition, target market, business model, and goals and build a product roadmap.
- Developing conceptual, not so much functional, sketches and models.
As these concepts may not be fully producible, similar optimization techniques will be used in both product design and product development phases.
